Thinking of heading to the capital city but not sure what to do once you get there? Then fear not…there’s plenty to do (almost too much to choose from) - but here, we’ve put together our idea of the perfect London day (and night) out! Don’t forget to wear your walking shoes (and this is the UK… so you may need a spare umbrella as well!)
Get there nice and early… and start your day by visiting some of the most famous attractions. Start out at The Tower of London and check out those dazzling Crown Jewels. Make sure you arrive asap - so you can avoid the crowds and maybe treat yourself to a guided tour led by the famous Beefeaters.
From there, take a walk along the Thames Path, where you can seelandmarks like Tower Bridgeand The Shard. Then, head over to Borough Market, one of London’s oldest and most renowned food markets - and refuel with a mid-morning snack. It would be an absolute sin to go and not take in London’s world renowned art and culture scene. Make your way to the Tate Modern on the South Bank and check out some of the most popular contemporary art pieces. What’s more, because the permanent collection is free to enter, it’s a great way to pass an hour or two.
Then, why not pop to Covent Garden and browse the beautiful boutique shops, maybe spend some time watching the street performers, and take some pictures of the stunning architecture. There are independent stores, luxury labels, quirky market stalls - and often some opera singing to accompany you. If you do have a bit of time, you can even take a look around the London Transport Museum.
All this walking is hungry work! So, while you’re in a place absolutely rammed with incredible dining options, treat yourself to a culinary experience at one of the city’s top restaurants. The Duck & Waffle, which is on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower. It has lots of innovative dishes - like their signature Duck and Waffle combo - and you can take in breathtaking views of the city skyline as you eat.
Fancy something a little more traditional? Then try out Rules, London’s oldest restaurant, where you’ll find more traditional dishes like roast lamb and steak and kidney pie - but make sure you book first.
London has some of the best casinos in the country. If you’re a fan of casinos and gambling, while you’re here, you won’t need to log into an online casino and deposit via mobile phone to playgames like roulette and blackjack - as you can play for real in one of the most iconic casinos in the world. The Hippodrome Casino, in Leicester Square, is a must-see. As well as lots of games, there’s a stylish bar and even live entertainment - a great way to while the night away! Once you’ve won (or lost) enough money at the casino - there’s still plenty to do! If you want to try out a few craft cocktails, then head to Nightjar in Shoreditch, which is a cool speakeasy-style bar famous for its inventive drinks and vintage vibe.
If live music is more your scene, then you can check out Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Clubin Soho… which has hosted some of the biggest names in the world of jazz. If you’ve still got an appetite after your big dinner, then before calling it a night, you can grab a bite at one of London’s many lush late-night eateries. Dishoom’s Covent Garden location offers seriously tasty Bombay-inspired dishes and it's open until the early hours. Or maybe head to Beigel Bake on Brick Lane and try out a freshly baked salt beef bagel, a classic taste of London.
So, there you have it, the ultimate day… and night out in London. Even if you just fit in a few of those things we’ve mentioned, it will be a day to remember!
